I've been ROBBED!!
I can't believe this!
What the hell... WHAT THE HELL?!
My character's name is Chiri Babbath
I had a somewhat large collect of tomes and elite tomes
I had a few ectos and rubies
but most of all, I had 30 pieces of elite armor! I had 30 ****ING PIECES OF ELITE ARMOR!
The last time I logged on was the night before Christmas, and today, when I came back on, it had said that I left my guild, my character was naked, and everything on her was gone. Everything in storage was gone. The robber left my character's glasses, and 7 spiked eggnogs. I can't believe this. I've never given my GW password to anyone. I don't even use my GW password for other sites.
The only thing I can figure... Is that it was JACT related. I installed their software on my computer shortly before this happened. I blame them.
Knowing ANet? I will not be reimbursed. They will do nothing. It's not their fault, I know, however it's painful to know that all they would have to do is type in a few numbers to help me get back on track, but they won't.
I'm going to contact support. Wish me luck. I spent over 1,000 hours on this particular character, and now I'm wondering if it's even worth continuing.

I have JACT on my computer and a ton of stuff, and have never been robbed/hacked. I doubt it was that unless you used the same email and pass for JACT as your GW login. If that's the case, I think there's something fishy going on there to be sure.
No, you won't get your stuff back. It's a shame but Anet's not going to roll back the servers to replace your goods, although I can't imagine it's that hard to roll back a single character or account since it would stand to reason that each account/character has their own little "history" on their servers in one way or another.
Then again, I could imagine some abuse happening there...pretty much someone getting a second account, offloading all their stuff onto that account, then complaining they were hacked....essentially duping their entire inventory. The only way to prevent that is to delete any items that were transferred during the "hack" out of the other account's inventory. The problem then arises as follows: what if those items were later sold to a bunch of other players? They'd have to track all this down and reverse it. That's not going to happen.
That sucks hardcore either way...I'd be pissed and might just quit GW if that were to happen to me.

That's unfortunate. Consider yourself fortunate that your characters were not deleted. Change the password and start fresh if you can, because I doubt Arena Net will do anything for you.
Oh, and change your password after scanning for spyware.

Sorry to hear that but ANet will not reimburse you... Best thing you can do is run a bunch of scanners and see if they come up with anything.

I can only hope that the thief will eventually get caught and their account permanently banned. It's sad to see this stuff happening during the holidays. At least your characters weren't deleted though, that's always a good thing.

Well technically speaking installing spyware to steal someone's game account is a criminal conduct. I don't expect ANet to reimburse, but if they wont make an effort to punish the offender then, that makes them criminally responsible.

Tch this is the kind of thing that makes me want to just buy gold. I worked my ass off to get everything I had in GW, and now I'll have to work my ass off again to pay for ASSHOLE'S shenanigans. Not that I would buy gold, since I'm fairly certain there's a good chance my credit card will randomly be charged for $500.
...
I would take this chance to just start over, but Chiri has 12 titles, and I'm almost at 20 (guardian/skill hunter both in their 90's)
Alright, I've calmed down a bit.
The only thing I've noticed so far is that when I logged in, the district was European. I'm fairly certain that means whoever did this traded my stuff to a European account. Also, it said I left my Guild on the 25th; which is the only day in the past month that I have NOT been on. ffs

If you use Internet explore there was a security breach where someone could steal your Passwords and other information via that if you used IE. I would recommend you update your computer with the latest updates and scan your computer for any virus/adware/spyware. Odds are you will not be reimbursted anything that was lost though sad as it might be.
On reguards to them being criminally liable there probolly is something in the eula that covers that.

@Robbert - If you think you have spyware, then you can install software to find it or take your computer to a tech so he can check it out. Then you can pay someone to trace the spyware to its owner. Then you can contact police and file charges.
But in no way is ANet responsible for what happens inside your computer. They do not control the websites you visit or the software you download. The spyware/key logger has nothing to do with their software or their server.
-----------------
@OP - I am almost speechless. Nothing we can say will replace what you lost or relieve the pain. All I can offer is to donate materials for replacements if you decide to go on with GW. While I don't have ectos or shards, I do have some of most other rare materials.
PM me here or in-game if you wish to accept the offer and we can discuss.

Thanks a lot. =]
It's okay. It's all alright.
I just keep reminding myself that GW2 will be the great equalizer. All of these achievements will only make a slight cosmetic difference in GW2. I can only salvage my motivation for playing until then.
As for Anet, I know they aren't obligated to do anything, and when it comes down to it, I should have known better than to do whatever it is I did to get my password cracked. At the same time, it's like being a starving bum, and seeing a rich doctor with a nice car walk by you, and even when you beg he won't even buy you a burger.
It's that kind of helplessness.
At least... My affairs in the outside world are in order. Thanks for your support, bros.

Sucks. Truely, I'm shedding tears for you. But honestly 30 elite armors for one character is overkill. How you can even have room for all that I don't know, let alone use for it. I hope you put them in your HoM because aside from e-peen, that's pretty much 30 elite armors are all they're good for.
Anyways, just contact someone from your old guild, get back in, change your password, get regular max armor, and restart from scratch. Be glad your character wasn't deleted or else you would have to start from pre-scratch.
P.S. SHOCK AND AMAZE! No "QQ Moar Plox" posts O.O Worst post was lyynyyrd's.

it wasn't 30 elite armors, just 30 elite pieces. Five on Chiri, the other 25 in the storage slots.
This may surprise you, but I actually needed 4 of the 6 sets, since I run a lot of different builds. However, you're right about the overkill, since I didn't really need the other two.

30 pieces=6 sets, that's nothing. I've sold about 8 elite armor sets throughout my playtime on GW. And it isn't surprising that you only used 4 sets.
GJ on tricking people thinking you lost 5 times as much stuff ^^ -expects flames now-
